Happy April!

This is always an exciting time of year for us, as it is the month in which we celebrate the opening of our beautiful studio. We are two this year and we are thankful for the wonderful relationships we have cultivated with our students and ourselves. Thank you all for supporting us!

The weather is getting warmer and the days longer, which means it’s time to spend more time outside! As we move into “gardening season”, please be sure to take care of your backs; Draw your belly button to your spine when picking up dirt or debris-filled buckets, bend from your knees, and have fun! A nice way to re-stabilize your pelvis after a long day of forward bending work is to perform the stomach stretch exercise: With your hands under your forehead and your legs hip-distance apart, take a big inhale and feel your belly button press into the ground. Then exhale and draw your belly button to your spine while keeping tension out of your upper back. Think about pulling your belly button to your spine and lengthening your pubic bone into the floor so that you maintain a neutral pelvis.

For those of you who are returning to other outdoor activities like walking, jogging and biking, an easy way to keep your body healthy is to make sure to STRETCH! Tight calves, quads, and piriformis muscles can make your legs, hips, low back, and knees feel achey,

If you would like to work on a home program that addresses the discomforts you feel after your favorite activities, let us know. We’d be happy to help!

If you are a regular student at our studio, then you know that we are both pregnant and preparing for our respective maternity leaves to begin (May-ish and July-ish). Nicole’s due first, and is currently preparing her students for when she is out of the studio. Lindsay will begin preparing in June. We both promise to continue to support you in your Pilates practice and in your efforts to better your body and mind, and we will be back (with new babes in tow) as soon as we each are able. Our goal is to keep the studio running as smoothly as possible while each of us is on leave and we thank you all ahead of time for your support and patience while we work through this challenging and exciting time.

We are looking to add a page to our website with “success stories”! If you would like to share how your body or life has changed since studying with us, please send us an email. Let us know if you would like us to cite you (first name only), or if you’d prefer an anonymous citation.

As always, we welcome feedback and suggestions.

See you at the studio,
Nicole and Lindsay
